Illegal Cellar Fire Kills Five in Nampally

Nampally fire tragedy at furniture shop

Five people died in a fire at a furniture shop in Nampally, including two young children. The fire broke out in the cellar of the building. The incident shocked local residents and raised serious concerns about safety violations.

The cellar was used to store furniture and also served as a living space, which is not permitted. Such spaces have poor ventilation and limited exits. When the fire started, smoke spread rapidly, leaving little chance to escape.

The children were trapped inside the cellar and could not get out. Three adults lost their lives while trying to rescue them. Dense smoke filled the area quickly, making rescue operations extremely difficult.

Preliminary reports suggest the fire may have started due to a short circuit or a cigarette. Both point to negligence. Furniture, wood, and foam are highly flammable, especially in enclosed spaces like cellars.

This tragedy was avoidable. Using the cellar for storage and residence violated safety norms. Fire safety inspections were absent, and proper electrical wiring and strict no smoking rules were not followed.

Safety regulations exist to protect lives. Ignoring them leads to irreversible loss. The Nampally fire stands as a grim reminder that negligence and rule violations can cost innocent lives.
