In recent times, cases of wives killing their husbands have reportedly been increasing. One such shocking incident has come to light from Borgaram in Makluru district, under Nizamabad.
The victim, Pattati Ramesh, aged 35, was married to Sounmya. Sounmya was working as a teacher in a private school. The couple had been married for 13 years and had three children.
According to police information, Sounmya developed a friendship with Dilip, who was working as a PTE in the same school. Over time, the friendship allegedly turned into an extra-marital affair.
When Ramesh came to know about the relationship, he reportedly warned both Sounmya and Dilip. However, police say Sounmya continued the relationship despite his objections.
On December 20, Sounmya allegedly killed her husband by hanging him with a towel, with the help of Dilip. After the incident, she reportedly claimed that Ramesh died of a heart attack and completed his last rites in a hurry.
The matter came to light after villagers noticed suspicious marks on Ramesh’s body. They informed Ramesh’s brother Kedari, who was working in Israel at the time.
Kedari returned to India and lodged a complaint with the police. Following the complaint, the police exhumed the body and questioned Sounmya.
During interrogation, she reportedly confessed to killing her husband for her lover. The police arrested Sounmya and five others in connection with the case.
The incident has shocked the villagers, who are now demanding strict punishment. They say it is disturbing that an innocent man was killed despite a 13-year marriage and three children.
