IAF Officer Dark Side

What began as a case of road rage in Bengaluru has now taken a controversial turn with Indian Air Force Wing Commander Shiladitya Bose facing allegations of not just physical assault, but also of deliberately stoking linguistic tensions to shield himself from accountability.

On Monday morning, Bose and his wife Squadron Leader Madhumita Das were driving towards Kempegowda International Airport when their car allegedly brushed past a two-wheeler ridden by Vikas Kumar, a 27-year-old techie working at a call centre.

What followed was a violent scuffle in public view, captured on CCTV and mobile phone videos. The footage shows Bose physically assaulting Kumar while Das records the incident.

Initially, Bose posted a video on social media claiming he was attacked and verbally abused in Kannada by a “local” biker, accusing the man of targeting him and his wife as outsiders.

He also alleged that the attacker made derogatory remarks against the DRDO. These claims triggered sympathy online and led to Kumar’s arrest.

However, new video evidence contradicted Bose’s narrative, clearly showing him as the aggressor. The situation worsened after pro-Kannada groups protested his actions and demanded his arrest.

This was followed by video evidence in which the IAF officer was seen assaulting the techie, in what appeared to be a case of road rage. This sudden pivot has drawn criticism from observers who see it as a calculated attempt to deflect attention and create a divisive regional angle to what is essentially a personal misconduct case.

Such unfounded allegations not only inflame regional tensions but also obstruct justice. An FIR has now been registered against Bose under several serious charges including attempt to murder and criminal intimidation. Investigations are ongoing.
