BCCI Jersey Bombshell ₹400 Cr Mega Jackpot!

BCCI jersey sponsorship hike

BCCI has announced a major hike in jersey sponsorship rates for the Indian cricket team. The new rates are fixed at ₹3.5 crore per bilateral match and ₹1.5 crore per multilateral match. This move is expected to bring the board over ₹400 crore in the next three years.

Why the Hike in Rates?

The increase comes after Dream11 exited as jersey sponsor following the government’s Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025. Compared to earlier rates of ₹3.17 crore and ₹1.12 crore, the new charges are 10% higher for bilateral matches and 3% higher for multilateral matches.

Expected Earnings for BCCI

With nearly 130 matches lined up in the next three years, including the 2026 T20 World Cup and 2027 ODI World Cup, BCCI is set for record earnings. The sponsorship cycle alone could fetch over ₹400 crore, with the final figure possibly higher depending on the bidding outcome.

Mixed Reaction from Fans

Cricket fans have expressed mixed views about the hike. Some welcome the additional revenue for Indian cricket, while others worry about its impact on the sport. One fan remarked, “BCCI minting money, but spectators have to pay more to watch these jerseys.” Another joked about matches against Pakistan despite the windfall.

Sponsorship Bidding Details

The bidding process for the new deal is scheduled for September 16, 2025. The sponsor will not be onboarded before the Asia Cup starting on September 9. To qualify, bidders must show a turnover or net worth of at least ₹300 crore for the past three years.

What Lies Ahead?

As BCCI seeks to capitalise on the Indian team’s popularity, fans eagerly await the bidding results. The big question remains whether this financial boost will also reflect in the team’s on-field performances.
