IPL 2025 is over but the drama has just begun. The trade window is open and with it comes a whole lot of rumors.
Big names, surprise links and unexpected exits it’s all happening. But which of these will actually happen?
The buzz is that Sunrisers Hyderabad might trade Ishan Kishan for KKR’s Venkatesh Iyer.
But why would SRH let go of Ishan who scored 354 runs and even hit a century in IPL 2025? And why go for Venky who had a poor season with just 142 runs at 20?
It looks strange at first but SRH might be looking at a longer term all-rounder. Meanwhile RCB is also said to be interested in Venky. Could this turn into a bidding war?
Glenn Maxwell had a season to forget 48 runs in 7 innings for Punjab Kings before an injury ended his campaign.
But that hasn’t stopped CSK from showing interest in him. Can MS Dhoni’s team revive his form the way they’ve done with others before?
At the same time Gujarat Titans might part ways with Glenn Phillips after his underwhelming run. Is this a mini clear-out of underperforming foreign all-rounders?
Liam Livingstone couldn’t find rhythm with RCB this year 112 runs in 10 games. Now rumors say both Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants are keeping an eye on him.
Is this a gamble worth taking? Can a new setup bring out the match-winner in him again?
Here comes the biggest talking point. Rishabh Pant bought by LSG for ₹27 crore didn’t have the kind of impact expected. Just one season in and there are whispers that Delhi Capitals want him back.
Even Mumbai Indians are reportedly interested. But why would LSG let go of their marquee signing so soon? It’s unlikely. But in IPL, nothing can be ruled out.
So why are so many big names being thrown around? Is it just noise or are teams seriously reshuffling ahead of IPL 2026?
With the mega auction around the corner franchises might be looking to fix their squads early and maybe take a few bold calls while they still can.
Iyer, Maxwell, Livingstone, Pant all being linked in trades tells you one thing: performances matter and patience is running out. Franchises are done waiting for players to “find form”. They want results.
Will we see these trades happen? Or are they just rumors to fuel fan debates? Either way the trade window is keeping IPL alive long after the season is over.
And if one or two of these trades happen IPL 2026 could be very very different. One thing is for sure the off-field action is as exciting as the on-field action right now.
