Bhuvneshwar was one of the biggest reasons behind RCB’s second title winning campaign.

The veteran pacer finished as the tournament’s second highest wicket taker and consistently delivered with the new ball and at the death.

Despite staying fit and performing throughout the season, he is yet to earn another ODI opportunity, with his last appearance coming in January 2022.

Ravichandran Ashwin questioned why Bhuvneshwar is not even being considered for India’s 2027 World Cup plans.

The former off spinner said the veteran offers qualities that are difficult to replace, including swing with the new ball, control in the death overs and useful lower order batting.

He also pointed out that Bhuvneshwar has remained fit over the last two IPL seasons, making him a strong option for selection.

Ashwin also stressed that India cannot rely only on inexperienced fast bowlers in a major ICC tournament.

He believes the team needs the right mix of youth and experience and suggested that Bhuvneshwar’s presence could strengthen the pace attack as preparations for the 2027 World Cup gather pace.

With India’s next ODI series against the West Indies approaching, the discussion around Bhuvneshwar’s return is likely to grow.

After a brilliant IPL 2026, has Team India made a mistake by not even considering one of its most experienced fast bowlers?
