Punjab Kings all rounder Shashank Singh has decided to leave Chhattisgarh and will represent Pondicherry from the 2026-27 domestic season.
But according to Shashank, the move was not about a better opportunity it was about not receiving the support he expected.
The 34 year old said he went through shoulder and finger injuries last season but felt the Chhattisgarh State Cricket Sangh did not stand by him during his recovery.
He claimed that even after becoming fit again, he was ignored for the Chhattisgarh Cricket Premier League and the team’s pre season camp in Bengaluru.
Shashank also revealed that he tried to find out why he had been left out but never received a clear answer. After securing a No Objection Certificate (NOC), he chose to continue his domestic career with Pondicherry.
The all rounder also responded to claims that he only wanted to play in the IPL.
He pointed to his performances in domestic cricket, highlighting that he received the BCCI’s Lala Amarnath Award as the Best All Rounder in Domestic Limited Overs Competitions for the 2023-24 season.
Shashank’s decision has now started a fresh discussion about how domestic players are treated when they suffer injuries.
While Chhattisgarh has not officially responded to his allegations, the move has once again raised questions about whether state associations are doing enough to support players during difficult phases of their careers.
