Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill received mixed reactions on social media after his side defeated Chennai Super Kings in Chennai. His post-match Instagram update quickly became a talking point among cricket fans.
After the match, Gill shared a photo holding a yellow whistle and wrote “Nandri Chennai.” The whistle is strongly linked with CSK’s famous “Whistle Podu” chant, making the post widely discussed online.
Some fans did not like the post and felt it was an unnecessary troll after beating CSK at Chepauk Stadium. Others said it was only a simple gesture and should not be taken seriously.
GT had no trouble chasing 159 runs. They reached the target with 20 balls remaining and secured a comfortable eight-wicket victory in a dominant performance.
Sai Sudharsan played the key innings for Gujarat Titans, scoring 87 from 46 balls. He controlled the chase well and kept the required rate under control throughout the innings.
Gill began aggressively but lost his wicket early. Jos Buttler stayed till the end and finished the chase calmly without allowing pressure to build.
CSK had a poor start with the bat. Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj took early wickets as Chennai slipped to 37/4 in the Powerplay.
Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 74 not out, but he received little support from the other end. Shivam Dube and Dewald Brevis could not make useful contributions.
There was also debate in the final overs. A close no-ball call involving Arshad Khan was not given, and CSK lost a wicket on the next delivery. The decision did not favour Chennai.
Gujarat Titans were stronger in both bowling and batting and earned an easy win. CSK must fix their top-order issues as the tournament progresses. Gill’s post created extra discussion, but the result was clearly decided on the field.
