The retirement of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma from the test format has caused a huge ruckus on Indian social media, with many alleging the hand of coach Gautam Gambhir to be behind it.
Kohli fans have dug deep into Gambhir’s track record, revealing details that depict a deeply hypocritical persona.

Gambhir had once clearly stated his disdain for foreign coaches, claiming that they only join for monetary benefits and leave the team as a sinking ship.
However, when it came to picking his own bowling coach, Gambhir brought Morne Morkel, even though he had to fight with the BCCI for it.

Ravichandran Ashwin’s father has also come forward since his retirement to claim Gambhir’s hand in forcing his son to retire from all forms of Indian cricket.
Many also allege Gambhir for slowly making Rohit and Virat disappear from the Indian scenario, firstly by making them retire from T20 cricket, and then by snatching their roles from the red-ball format.

The Delhi Ranji Coach had come forward to claim that Virat Kohli wanted to play for India A to get a grip on his form before the India tour of England. He had also claimed that Virat had planned to hit 4-5 centuries in the England series, just before he announced his retirement.
Gambhir’s bitter relationship with MS Dhoni is no secret as well, as he always seems to indirectly and slickly blame Dhoni for his own failures in professional cricket, including the one time when he ranted about him being replaced from vice captaincy with Dhoni still remaining intact as the captain.
However, he did exactly the same during his tenure as coach, sacking Hardik’s vice captaincy immediately after the T20 World Cup win, replacing him with Shubman Gill.
While Gambhir claims to be against PR machinery on social media, several accounts rush to give him credit anytime India wins, but term it as a collective loss once the team loses.
His stance on betting platforms also seems too hypocritical, as he goes on to promote shady platforms while simultaneously commenting on being strongly against it.
With such huge allegations against his past, many Kohli fans have ensured that Gambhir does not slip under the radar when it comes to his own hypocritical actions.
One or two slip-ups may go under the radar, but repeated offences like these reveal Gambhir’s inner thought process, highlighting a deeply troubled thought process of contradictions.
It will be interesting to see whether the ‘anti-PR’ coach goes on to hire his own PR team to sort out this flammable situation.
