Pradeep Ranganathan’s long pending project Love Insurance Kompany (LIK), directed by Vignesh Shivan, was earlier slated for a worldwide theatrical release on February 14 after multiple delays. However, the film has been postponed once again, with reports now suggesting a possible March 19 release.
The shooting of LIK began in 2023 but faced repeated interruptions due to financial issues. Since the story is set in 2040, the film requires heavy post-production work. The extended VFX process has also contributed significantly to the repeated delays.
March 19 is already crowded with major Pan Indian releases like Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge and Yash’s Toxic. This has triggered debate on social media, with many suggesting that LIK should opt for a less competitive release window.
Several users point out that Pradeep Ranganathan enjoys a strong fan base in the Telugu states, as seen with the success of Dragon and Dude. They fear that releasing LIK alongside such big titles could limit its visibility and box office potential.
Others argue that LIK is not positioned as a Pan Indian film and is mainly aimed at its core regional audience. They believe the film could still perform steadily by benefiting from the extended Eid holiday weekend.
Trade experts, however, warn that another postponement could further damage audience interest. With hype already affected by multiple delays, pushing the release again to avoid competition may hurt LIK’s box office prospects more than the clash itself.
At present, these discussions remain speculative. There is still no official confirmation from the LIK team regarding the March 19 release. The final outcome will depend on when the film actually releases and how audiences respond after the long wait.
