Shocking U-Turn: Cult Filmmaker Bends for Vijay

Mysskin and Vijay Sethupathi in Train movie

Cult filmmaker Mysskin has recently taken up more supporting roles in Kollywood, while his directorial projects face delays. His last film as a director, Pisasu, was released in 2020. Although he completed the shooting of two other directorial ventures, Pisasu 2 and Train, neither film has reached theatres yet.

According to reports, both projects are currently stuck due to financial challenges. However, Train, starring Vijay Sethupathi and produced by Kalaipuli S. Thanu, appears to be closer to release, with some of its production issues nearly resolved.

In a recent interview, Mysskin revealed that Train is designed as a five-hour travel-based journey. He admitted that, for the first time in his career, he made compromises in the making of this film, influenced by the suggestions of both producer Thanu and lead actor Vijay Sethupathi. His confession that this is a commercially driven compromise has gone viral on social media.

Following this, netizens have been vocal about their disapproval of Mysskin altering his filmmaking approach. They believe his unique storytelling style and distinct fan base should not be diluted, and compromising for commercial reasons could ultimately affect the quality of the film.

Fans argue that Mysskin’s strength lies in his originality, and compromising may lead to a disjointed outcome that doesn’t meet his usual standards. They urge him to stay true to his creative instincts to maintain the integrity of his cinematic voice.

Currently, only a short glimpse from Train has been released. The makers have not officially announced a release date, and it remains unclear whether the film will arrive by the end of this year or be pushed to the next. Whether it will live up to the hype and become a blockbuster remains to be seen.
