Delta Air Lines will end its Austin to Midland flights by November 2025. The airline confirmed that the last service between Austin and Midland International Air & Space Port is scheduled for November 8, 2025. This is part of Delta’s restructuring of its Texas network.
Short Regional Route Ends
The Austin to Midland route was one of Delta’s shortest connections. It was usually served by small regional jets. Reports suggest the service struggled to attract demand and mainly existed to support Delta’s growth in Austin.
New Focus on Larger Destinations
Delta is now launching nonstop routes from Austin to bigger markets like Denver, Columbus, and Kansas City. With these new additions, the Midland service no longer fit into Delta’s expansion plans.
Reactions from Midland
Midland airport officials were reportedly not fully briefed before the announcement. The change reduces options for local travellers. However, Midland will still be connected through major airlines such as Southwest Airlines, United Airlines, and American Airlines.
Wider Changes in Texas
Earlier this year, Delta also stopped its Austin to Harlingen flights. These moves show the airline’s strategy of cutting underperforming regional services while focusing on routes with higher demand and stronger long-term potential.
Impact on Travellers
For Midland passengers, losing Delta flights is a setback. For the airline, however, it is a calculated step to direct resources toward more profitable and strategic routes.
