A 15-year-old boy has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with a shooting that killed a 19-year-old man in North Little Rock on Monday night.
The police said they identified the suspect, whose name has not been released because of his age, through witness statements and surveillance video.
The police said they are looking for another person of interest who may have been involved in the incident.
The shooting has sparked a public outcry and a political debate over the issue of gun violence and juvenile crime in North Little Rock.
Some residents have expressed their frustration and fear over the increasing number of homicides in the city, especially involving young people. They have called for more police presence, stricter gun laws, and better education and opportunities for the youth.
On the other hand, some activists and community leaders have argued that the root causes of the violence are poverty, racism, and lack of social services.
They have demanded more investment in affordable housing, mental health care, and community programs that can prevent crime and promote peace. They have also criticized the criminal justice system for treating juveniles as adults and imposing harsh sentences that do not offer rehabilitation or hope.
