An H-4 EAD application reportedly turned into a stressful experience for one family living in the United States. Although the work authorisation request has not been denied, concerns grew after fears emerged that USCIS could process the application using older immigration validity dates.
In a social media post, an H-1B visa holder explained that his wife’s Employment Authorization Document application was filed through mail on December 5. At that time, her H-4 visa status was valid only until June 2026 and linked to his H-1B approval.
The situation changed after her H-4 extension received approval from USCIS. The family later received a new I-797A approval notice along with an updated I-94 showing extended legal stay validity in the United States.
Despite the extension approval, the family reportedly became worried about the pending I-765 application. They feared USCIS could still use the older H-4 validity dates submitted during the original filing process. If processed that way, the EAD validity period could reportedly become very short.
Another concern appeared when the USCIS online account did not provide an option to upload updated documents or unsolicited evidence. The issue may have occurred because the initial application was submitted offline through mail instead of an online filing process.
The incident highlights the confusion many visa holders face while dealing with the US immigration system. Even after receiving approvals for extensions, applicants often remain uncertain about whether multiple USCIS applications are internally connected during processing.
The delays and lack of clear updates within the immigration system continue creating stress for many families. In this case, the applicant is still waiting for clarity regarding his wife’s Employment Authorization Document approval and validity period.
