A shocking murder case involving an Indian man in the US has taken a new turn with the arrest of a 14-year-old boy.
Philadelphia police have arrested 14-year-old Sincere Camps and charged him with murder, robbery, firearms offenses, and related charges in connection with the killing of 28-year-old Anshul Kuncha, a Hyderabad Native, who was shot dead while delivering pizzas on June 5.
According to investigators, Anshul was lured to a vacant apartment after someone placed an order for three pizzas. Surveillance footage reportedly shows two people dressed in dark clothing following him after he stepped out of his vehicle to make the delivery.
Police later recovered the three pizza boxes and the delivery bag inside the vacant apartment. Curiously, the food had not even been opened, suggesting the order may have been placed solely to lure him to the location.
Moments after completing the delivery, Anshul was shot outside the building. Responding officers found him alive but critically injured. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
While the arrest marks a major breakthrough, the investigation is far from over.
Surveillance footage reportedly shows a second person, but police have identified only one suspect so far. Authorities have also not revealed who placed the fake pizza order or whether anyone was waiting inside the vacant apartment when Anshul arrived.
Investigators now believe robbery was the motive. However, that has raised fresh questions because officials had earlier indicated that none of Anshul’s belongings appeared to have been stolen, making the robbery angle harder to understand.
Anshul had moved to the United States to pursue higher education and completed his master’s in business Analytics at Drexel University. He was working full-time at a multinational company while delivering pizzas on weekends to earn extra income.
The arrest may have brought investigators closer to solving the case, but several key questions remain unanswered. Who was the second person seen on camera? Who placed the fake pizza order? And if robbery was the motive, why were Anshul’s belongings reportedly left behind?
Police are continuing their investigation to determine exactly what happened that night.
