Indian Students in U.S. Shoplifting Case

In a recent incident at a Hoboken ShopRite, two young women, allegedly graduate students at Stevens Institute of Technology, were apprehended for attempting to shoplift household products.

The store’s security system flagged them, suspecting a prior attempt. Surveillance footage revealed that although they paid for two items, they left with 27 unpaid products, amounting to $155.61,

While they are believed to be of Indian origin from Telugu states, their identity remains unconfirmed at this point.

Following their arrest, they underwent standard procedures including search, fingerprinting, and photography at the Hoboken Police Station before being released with a shoplifting summons.

This occurrence adds to a string of reported shoplifting thefts in recent months, indicating a potential trend in the area.
