An Iranian missile and drone strike has targeted a key US air base in Saudi Arabia, leaving American troops injured. The incident has raised fresh concerns about the effectiveness of US defence systems in the region.
The attack occurred at Prince Sultan Air Base in Riyadh. According to US officials, at least one missile and multiple drones were used, resulting in injuries to 12 personnel during the strike.
Among the injured, two are reported to be in serious condition. This makes the incident particularly severe, especially at a time when tensions in the region continue to rise.
Reports also suggest that several US refuelling aircraft were damaged in the attack. This could impact operational capacity, as the base plays a key role in supporting ongoing military activities.
The strike is being described as one of the most serious setbacks for US air defence systems in the current conflict. However, there has been no official statement from the Pentagon or Saudi authorities on how the breach occurred.
Satellite images circulating online reportedly show smoke and activity at the base following the attack. These visuals have added to concerns about the scale and impact of the strike.
This is not the first time the base has been targeted. Earlier this month, a similar attack reportedly killed a US soldier, indicating a pattern and raising questions about existing security measures.
The conflict, which began in late February, has already resulted in injuries to over 300 US troops. Although many have returned to duty, the repeated attacks are increasing pressure on military readiness.
With reports suggesting that more US Army personnel could be deployed, such incidents may influence future decisions. The situation remains tense as the risk of further escalation continues.
