U.S. Court Orders Tracking Device for Telugu Student

Telugu student USA ankle monitor case

In a shocking and deeply disturbing incident, a Telugu student pursuing his master’s degree in the United States has been arrested for a serious offense. Such incidents are rare among Telugu students.

As per U.S. court records, 24-year-old Likhith Nalla, a student living in Clifton, Ohio, was arrested after he offered $100 to an undercover police officer who was pretending to be a 15-year-old child. This is a shocking incident as it is not common to hear about such sensitive and shameful crimes involving students from India.

Authorities said Likhith used his cellphone to communicate with the officer during the operation. He has been charged with soliciting a minor, which means asking or trying to pay a child for sexual activity, and also possessing criminal tools.

Likhith Nalla is currently being held at the Hamilton County Justice Center with total bonds set at $20,000, though he is required to pay $2,000 for each count for possible release. If released, he will be fitted with an ankle monitor, a device that allows law enforcement to track his location at all times. This ensures he cannot flee or attempt to contact anyone related to the case while the investigation continues.

His next court hearing is scheduled for October 6.

This case has left the Telugu community embarrassed. While visa and documentation-related issues are somewhat common among students abroad, being linked to a criminal case of this nature leaves a permanent stain on the individual’s reputation and brings immense pain to their family.

Such incidents serve as a serious reminder of the importance of awareness, self-discipline, and understanding of U.S. law. Even a single misstep can destroy a career, a family’s pride and happiness.
