Romantic Blockbuster Hits OTT: Cringe Fest Coming?

Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat ZEE5 OTT release

Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat is set to arrive on streaming after a successful theatrical run. ZEE5 will host its world digital premiere on December 26. Marketed as an intense romantic drama, the film targets holiday viewers seeking emotional storytelling.

The film stars Harshvardhan Rane as Vikramaditya and Sonam Bajwa as Adaa. Directed by Milap Zaveri, the story promises passion, pain and obsession. It positions itself as a high intensity romance with dramatic emotional stakes.

Following reports of crossing ₹110 crore worldwide, the OTT release appears commercially sensible. The film found an audience in urban multiplexes. However, the viewing experience changes once the narrative unfolds on screen.

What is presented as intense romance soon slips into exaggerated melodrama. Emotional moments lack restraint and depth. Scenes are designed for loud impact rather than emotional connection, making the experience feel tiring instead of immersive.

Vikramaditya’s obsessive love is portrayed without subtlety. Every reaction is heightened and every conflict is pushed to extremes. The constant emotional overload leaves little room for nuance or believable character development.

Sonam Bajwa’s Adaa is written as an independent woman, yet the screenplay weakens her arc. She is repeatedly pulled into cycles of submission and rebellion. This treatment feels regressive rather than layered or empowering.

The film repeatedly confuses toxic behaviour with romance. Obsession is framed as passion without psychological insight. Loud background music, slow motion visuals and overwrought dialogues replace meaningful emotional exploration.

Now streaming on ZEE5, the film may attract viewers who skipped theatres. Still, even with home viewing comfort, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat feels exhausting. It remains excessive, emotionally hollow and overly self indulgent.
