In today’s scenario, movies no longer face judgment only in theatres. They undergo a second round of evaluation on OTT platforms, and sometimes the streaming response can save a film’s reputation.
Many directors, producers, and even actors silently hope that even if their movie fails in cinemas, OTT might give it a fresh life. But this strategy does not always work, and Mass Jathara is the latest example.
The Ravi Teja starrer was declared a massive box office disaster during its theatrical run. Now, after its digital premiere on Netflix, the response has not improved. In fact, the backlash has intensified. OTT viewers are calling the film outdated, predictable, and lacking excitement.
The familiar revenge storyline, routine hero elevation scenes, slow screenplay, and absence of innovation have disappointed audiences who expected at least something entertaining from Ravi Teja.
Sreeleela is also facing heavy bashing for picking such a senseless role and delivering such an awful performance. She could not even impress with her dance moves this time.
Even the music department could not save it. Many viewers felt Bheems Ceciroleo’s background score did not create the energy or high moments the film needed, especially in a mass entertainer. Ravi Teja fans feel his BGM could have at least elevated some action scenes, but he gave his worst.
Director Bhanu is now receiving heavy trolling for choosing a very formulaic script as his debut directorial project. Since Ravi Teja is known for energetic performances and mass elements, fans feel the film wasted both opportunity and talent.
Social media reactions summarize the mood:
“Looks like a movie made 10 years ago.”
“No spark in the writing.”
“Ravi Teja deserves better scripts.”
With negative feedback in theatres and now on OTT, the verdict is clear. Mass Jathara has failed on both platforms. More importantly, this response highlights a crucial shift. Audiences today expect freshness, smarter execution, and strong content, even in mass films.
