Ahaan’s Biggest Test: Second Film Curse or One Film Wonder?

Ahaan Panday with Ali Abbas Zafar

Ali Abbas Zafar’s next film with Ahaan Panday is progressing smoothly without any reported delays. The director recently shared an on-set photograph on social media featuring himself and Ahaan standing on a road during filming. He captioned the image with the words, “In between action & cut.”

The upcoming project is being produced by Yash Raj Films. It marks Ahaan’s second collaboration with the production house after the blockbuster success of Saiyaara. For Ali Abbas Zafar, the film also represents a return to YRF after a considerable gap.

Expectations surrounding the film are extremely high. Ahaan Panday has gained strong popularity among younger audiences through his screen presence, while Ali Abbas Zafar has delivered some of his most successful work in partnership with Yash Raj Films.

The success of Saiyaara has also created significant pressure on Ahaan. As a newcomer in the industry, maintaining momentum is important. Industry observers believe his next film could play a major role in determining how quickly he rises among Bollywood’s leading stars.

At the same time, discussions on social media have highlighted concerns about the choice of director. Ali Abbas Zafar’s previous release, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, failed at the box office and reportedly created several challenges for those associated with the project.

However, many fans remain optimistic about the new collaboration. Supporters point to the success of Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai, arguing that Ali Abbas Zafar has already demonstrated his ability to deliver major commercial entertainers when working with Yash Raj Films.

According to reports, Saiyaara earned net collections of around Rs. 325 crores. As a result, expectations for Ahaan Panday’s next release are naturally high. Many believe the film will need a strong box office performance to sustain the momentum generated by his debut success.

Trade experts, however, suggest that the film’s budget will be a key factor in judging its overall performance. Whether a Rs. 200 crore collection is sufficient or whether a higher target is required will depend largely on the final production costs.
