Ajay Devgn is facing legal trouble linked to Bholaa, released two years ago. The film is widely known as a remake of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Kaithi. The issue has now reached the Bombay High Court.
According to reports, the makers of the Tamil film have filed a petition. They have alleged a breach of remake rights. The claim states that the Hindi version did not fully honour the agreed terms. Ajay Devgn has not responded publicly so far.
The petition mentions that an assignment fee was to be paid in instalments. However, only Rs. 1 crore with GST was reportedly paid before release. The agreement also included variable payments based on the remake’s performance.
A new agreement was signed after the film’s release. It involved Ajay Devgn’s company, Reliance, and Dream Warrior. The deal stated that remake rights were shared, while exploitation rights were assigned to Reliance.
Despite this, the Tamil producers claim they have not received the remaining payments. They reportedly sent multiple emails but did not get a response. Dream Warrior had earlier issued a notice seeking Rs. 4 crores with interest.
The issue has triggered mixed reactions among fans and audiences. Some supporters of Ajay Devgn believe the claims are exaggerated. Others feel the matter could have been resolved without legal action.
Another section has criticised Ajay Devgn for not adhering to the agreement terms. Meanwhile, some viewers have backed the Tamil producers. They argue that seeking due payment is justified in such cases.
The situation remains unresolved for now. It is unclear whether both sides will reach a settlement. The legal proceedings may decide the outcome if the matter continues in court.
