The Bharatiya Janata Party recently released a music video titled “Modi Hai Toh Mumkin Hai” to celebrate the GST reforms led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The video instantly went viral, sparking widespread discussion and debate across social media.
While many focused on the ruling government’s use of music videos for self-promotion, others turned their attention to the Bollywood stars featured in it. Rajkummar Rao, Vikrant Massey, and Arshad Warsi appeared in the song, drawing unexpected backlash from fans.
Viewers were disappointed to see actors once praised as true outsiders of the industry take part in what many called a political endorsement. Soon after the release, calls to boycott these celebrities began trending across social media platforms.
Users expressed anger and shared memes and comments about how Bollywood’s image has changed over time. They criticised the growing closeness between the film industry and political parties, accusing stars of echoing political narratives for visibility.
For years, Bollywood has represented India’s culture through art, cinema, and music. However, this music video has left many upset, with people calling it propaganda and accusing the actors of letting their popularity be used to push a political message.
The song continues to circulate online, keeping fans and political observers deeply divided over the line between art, influence, and ideology.
I will never watch movies featuring:
Arshad Warsi
Rajkumar Rao
Vikrant MasseyThey are not actors, they are spineless mouthpieces of the current regime.
If you are also a true nationalist like me, stop watching movies of these actors.
