Border 2 is set to release in cinemas this Friday after a long wait, with strong expectations driven by its franchise value. Trade analyst Sumit Kadel has shared his views on the film’s likely Day 1 performance, focusing on early trends and audience interest.
Sumit Kadel pointed out that select songs from the original film have been recreated effectively, adding to nostalgia. He said Border 2 is releasing across 5,000 screens in India with nearly 14,000 shows scheduled nationwide.
He added that advance bookings have remained steady so far. Around 200,000 tickets are expected to be sold at PVRInox and Cinepolis by Thursday night, indicating decent pre-release momentum for the Border 2 opening.
According to Sumit, Border 2 might collect around Rs. 30–35 crores on Day 1. With strong walk-in sales, the figure could rise to Rs. 40–42 crores. Positive word-of-mouth may help the film reach Rs. 170–180 crores over the weekend.
He further estimated that lifetime collections could touch around Rs. 500 crores if audience response remains consistent. The Border 2 opening will play a key role in setting the tone for its long-term box office run.
Many netizens have agreed with these predictions. Sunny Deol’s fans believe the patriotic theme will attract large crowds, especially during evening and night shows, where occupancy is expected to be noticeably higher.
Sources say distributors and theatre owners are closely tracking collections from the second, third, and fourth days. The key concern is whether Border 2 can maintain double-digit numbers on weekdays after the initial surge.
At present, Border 2 faces little competition, as Dhurandhar has nearly ended its theatrical run. With no major clash, the Border 2 opening has a clear path to perform strongly if audience sentiment remains positive.
