Dhurandhar2 vs Toxic, Border 2 Suffers: Who’s to Blame?

Border 2 and Dhurandhar 2 box office clash

With just a day left for release, Border 2 appears to be facing screen allocation issues across several centres. Although advance bookings have begun, ticket sales are yet to open in some locations, prompting viewers to question the producers about the delay.

Sources quoted by Bollywood Hungama suggest the issue stems from conflicting demands. Anil Thadani is reportedly seeking a 50 percent screen share for the Hindi version of Toxic on March 19, a move exhibitors are reluctant to accept due to Dhurandhar 2 releasing the same day.

Distributors believe Dhurandhar 2 has stronger buzz, especially with Ranveer Singh in the lead. As a result, attempts to lock screens early for Toxic are said to have complicated advance planning for Border 2, triggering concern among trade circles.

A trade insider stated that Toxic deserves a solo release and that Border 2 should not be impacted by aggressive negotiations. The source urged makers to avoid intervention and allow advance bookings to open smoothly across all centres.

At present, distributors are unwilling to commit to arrangements that could affect March business outcomes. Meanwhile, a section of online users has backed Anil Thadani, arguing that both films deserve equal screen space and a fair opportunity at the box office.

Toxic has generated early attention due to its bold teaser and themes. However, some trade analysts feel the buzz could fade if Dhurandhar 2 dominates audience preference, given the strong anticipation around the sequel.

A few critics have also questioned Yash’s pull in the Hindi market this time, claiming most viewers are focused on Dhurandhar 2. They believe the sequel could deliver a massive opening that reshapes box office expectations.

Despite the uncertainty, Border 2 has reported decent advance bookings so far. Distributors and exhibitors are now keenly watching whether Sunny Deol can once again draw mass audiences, as he did with the success of Gadar 2.
