The highly anticipated teaser of Drishyam 3, which was supposed to release on October 2, shocked fans when it failed to drop. The unexpected delay has left followers of the Ajay Devgn-led franchise both confused and disappointed.
Producers officially claimed that the teaser’s background score wasn’t ready. But industry insiders say there’s more to it. A dispute between the Hindi producers and the original Malayalam creators reportedly forced the last-minute halt.
Sources confirm that a complete teaser, running one minute and twenty-five seconds, was ready for release. However, a contractual clause between the two production teams prevented it from going public without prior approval.
According to the agreement, the Hindi producers must obtain consent from director Jeethu Joseph and producer Antony Perumbavoor before making any major franchise announcements. The rule ensures creative consistency across all versions.
Trouble reportedly began when the Hindi producers prematurely revealed Drishyam 3’s release date—October 2, 2026—shortly after Mohanlal’s Malayalam version went on floors. This announcement violated the existing contract, prompting the original team to block the teaser.
The friction also stems from creative control. The original plan was for Jeethu Joseph to direct all versions—Malayalam, Hindi, and Telugu—for a unified global release. But that collaboration changed after Drishyam 2’s massive success.
Producer Kumar Mangat Pathak reportedly decided to let his son, Abhishek Pathak, direct the Hindi sequel instead. This creative shift widened the gap between the two teams, turning a joint franchise into a competitive effort.
Now, with both versions proceeding independently, Drishyam 3 faces an uncertain release timeline. Ironically, the behind-the-scenes tension is proving as gripping as the mystery the series is known for.
