Aamir Khan Productions’ romantic drama Ek Din, featuring Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi, is set for a theatrical release on May 1, 2026. The film marks a key addition to the summer release calendar and has already started drawing quiet industry attention.
The project was briefly retitled Mere Raho but has now returned to its original name, Ek Din. The makers appear confident about the title as they position the film for a holiday audience across theatres.
A 1.11 minute teaser has received clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification. It is currently being screened alongside Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos, helping the film build early awareness without a formal promotional push.
Ek Din is especially important as it marks Sai Pallavi’s Hindi film debut. Known for her strong performances and selective scripts in South Indian cinema, her entry into Bollywood has generated curiosity among audiences and trade circles.
Her pairing with Junaid Khan gained attention after visuals from the Japan schedule surfaced online. Scenes shot during Sapporo’s Snow Festival created expectations of a visually rich and emotionally driven romantic narrative.
However, reports suggesting Ek Din is a remake of the 2011 Korean film One Day have sparked criticism. This has renewed debate around Aamir Khan’s reliance on remakes after Laal Singh Chaddha, Loveyappa, and the backlash around Sitaare Zameen Par.
Comparisons between the Ek Din poster and the original film have further raised concerns about creative originality. These discussions have slightly dampened the initial excitement surrounding the project.
For Sai Pallavi, the film carries added pressure. A Hindi debut with a remake comes with risks, especially ahead of her role in Ramayana. With a box office clash against Raja Shivaji and The Devil Wears Prada 2, strong word of mouth will be crucial.
