Sajid Ali and Imtiaz Ali’s project Laila Majnu went on to become a cult classic after having a bad run at the box office in its initial release. But its re-release saw a wave of nostalgia from the fans and new admirers who loved the romantic saga.
Ekta Kapoor might have understood the potential of such historic romances and now she wishes to recreate Heer Ranjha on big screens. She revealed the project title on valentine’s day and to fans’ surprise it is again going to be backed by the Sajid Ali and Imtiaz Ali duo.
The question is, will the fans give wholehearted love to this project unlike what they failed to do with Laila Majnu? The image of this romantic duo has appeared in the popular imagination and cinema again and again.
The romantic story pertains to central India particularly Punjab. Thus, it will be interesting to see how Imtiaz Ali plans to recreate it for the big screens.
