Govinda claimed that Karan Johar used his name as a subtle dig and hinted at private matters through the storyline. He even said that if they crossed paths, he would give Johar the “Rajinikanth treatment” in public, framing it as a playful but pointed threat.
He further alleged that the film’s plot mirrored aspects of his marriage. According to Govinda, the story of a husband and wife fighting over a girlfriend was an attempt to force-fit his personal life into the narrative.
Karan Johar has not responded to these allegations so far. However, the comments have triggered strong reactions online, with fans expressing sharply divided opinions on the matter.
Several viewers believe the film has no connection to Govinda at all. They argue that the use of the name is coincidental and accuse the actor of creating controversy where none exists.
Others feel that Govinda’s recent behaviour is affecting his public image. While acknowledging his immense contribution to Indian cinema, they believe such statements appear unnecessary and immature at this stage of his career.
Some fans also point out that no one holds ownership over a common name like Govinda. They feel the issue is being overstretched without solid reasoning.
Another section of viewers believes the controversy is being revived purely for attention. They question why objections are being raised now, especially since the film released four years ago without any earlier protest.
There is also a perception that Govinda and his wife are using controversy to remain in the spotlight. This strategy, according to fans, is not being received positively and may further harm his reputation.
