Actress Fails to Pay School Fees? No Melodrama Please

Karishma Kapoor in Delhi High Court estate case

The internet is reacting sharply to a Delhi High Court hearing involving Karishma Kapoor and her children’s claim over late Sunjay Kapoor’s Rs 30,000 crore estate. The case went viral after Karishma told the court that her daughter’s US university fees remained unpaid for two months.

The court asked both sides to keep the case grounded and avoid melodrama. The dispute places Karishma’s children against their stepmother, Priya Sachdev Kapur, who controls the estate under Sunjay’s contested will.

Sunjay Kapoor, former chairman of Sona Comstar, passed away in June 2025 from a cardiac arrest. His will left his wealth to his second wife, Priya, instead of his children. This pushed Karisma and her children to approach the court as Class 1 heirs.

Priya has alleged that Karisma is manipulating the will for personal gain. Senior advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, representing the children, argued that the will has inconsistencies that indicate foul play. Priya insists that all expenses, including fees, are already covered.

Online reactions have questioned how a family with a net worth of Rs 1000 crore, and Karisma with Rs 120 crore, claim to face fee-payment delays. Many users sensed a disconnect between the family’s wealth and the public claims made in court.

The inheritance battle continues in court and highlights how complex such disputes can be. Its high-profile nature has turned the case into a legal drama that many people now view as real-life entertainment.
