Saiyaara Director: I Wasn’t Even Offered the Sequel

Mohit Suri on not directing Awarapan 2

Emraan Hashmi’s Awarapan 2 has created strong buzz among fans eager to relive the intense love story in a new form. The 2007 film Awarapan became a cult favourite for its emotional depth, music, and Emraan’s heartfelt performance.

Fans were excited when Awarapan 2 was officially announced. But many wondered why Mohit Suri, who directed the original, is not behind the camera this time. The filmmaker finally cleared the air about his absence from the sequel.

Mohit Suri revealed that he was never approached for Awarapan 2. “No discussion at all,” said the Saiyaara director, confirming he wasn’t offered the project. His statement surprised fans who expected his return for the second part.

Suri also explained that he never planned a sequel since the main character died in the first film. Jokingly, he added that the makers might revive the lead using technology, hinting at how Bollywood often finds creative ways to continue stories.

Directed by Nitin Kakkar, Awarapan 2 will follow a similar theme of love, loss, and violence. The film stars Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani, promising an emotional yet action-packed experience for audiences.

Now, all eyes are on Nitin Kakkar to see if he can recreate the same magic of heartbreak and passion that Mohit Suri delivered with Awarapan.
