The National Council for Women raised concerns over the song Sarke Chunar Teri featuring Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt. The track from KD: The Devil has sparked controversy due to its Hindi lyrics, which many consider vulgar and inappropriate.
Originally released in Kannada, the song gained wider attention after its Hindi version circulated online. Several viewers pointed out that the lyrics contain strong sexual innuendos, raising questions about how women are portrayed in such content.
Taking suo moto cognisance, the NCW summoned Nora Fatehi to appear on April 6. However, she did not attend the hearing and instead sent legal representatives, which the council declined to accept.
The NCW has now asked Nora Fatehi to appear in person on April 27, calling it a final opportunity. Sanjay Dutt has also been summoned in connection with the case, adding further attention to the issue.
There is growing curiosity about possible consequences if the actors fail to appear. Some believe the matter could escalate legally, with potential action including restrictions on the song or further proceedings.
Many voices online argue that responsibility should not fall only on the performers. They suggest that the creators and writers behind the song should also be held accountable for the controversial content.
Nora Fatehi has responded earlier through a public statement, saying she was not aware of the Hindi lyrics. She clarified that she performed for the Kannada version, and the Hindi adaptation was added later.
