Sequel Curse: World Cup, Dhurandhar 2 & Toxic Pressure

Pati Patni Aur Woh Do film cast

Ayushmann Khurrana’s upcoming film Pati Patni Aur Woh Do has been postponed from its planned Holi release on March 4. The film also stars Sara Ali Khan, Wamiqa Gabbi and Rakul Preet Singh in key roles.

The delay is reportedly due to incomplete post production work and a pending song shoot. The makers are said to have avoided rushing the final product to ensure better quality. However, the postponement has raised questions about the film’s readiness despite being close to release.

The March 4 release date initially appeared commercially attractive. With Holi falling midweek, the film had the advantage of an extended five day holiday window. Such festive periods often help mid budget films secure strong opening numbers.

At the same time, the date also carried certain risks. The semi finals and finals of the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup fall during the same week. This overlap could have affected theatre footfalls across key markets.

Adding to the pressure, big releases like Dhurandhar: The Revenge and Toxic are scheduled to arrive two weeks later. This made the March window increasingly competitive for screens and audience attention.

The film also carries expectations due to the success of Pati Patni Aur Woh, which performed well at the box office. However, recent Bollywood sequels have shown mixed results, making franchise value alone unreliable.

The presence of multiple female leads and Ayushmann Khurrana suggests an effort to widen appeal. Still, audience response will ultimately depend on content and execution rather than casting alone.

For now, the postponement appears to be a cautious and practical move. Whether it helps the film avoid competition or impacts its initial buzz will become clear once the new release date is announced.
