Saumya Tandon is trending after a video of her from the ongoing Maharashtra BMC elections went viral on social media. In the clip, the actress spoke about confusion she faced after reaching a polling location mentioned online.
Saumya told reporters that she had verified her voting details online before leaving home. However, once she arrived at the location, officials informed her that her assigned booth was elsewhere, later identified as Goregaon West.
Despite the inconvenience, Saumya stated that she would still cast her vote, calling it her democratic right. She also urged others to vote and not let such issues stop them from participating in the election process.
Many online users shared similar experiences and said they had faced confusion over polling locations. Some praised Saumya for speaking up and felt she exposed gaps in the Election Commission’s process, while others stressed the importance of voting regardless of obstacles.
At the same time, a section of netizens criticised Saumya for reacting publicly instead of quietly voting. Some alleged that she was seeking attention following the success of Dhurandhar and questioned her intent behind addressing the issue openly.
Saumya is expected to return in the sequel to Dhurandhar, scheduled to arrive in March this year. With promotions yet to begin, social media users speculated whether the controversy would impact interest, though its effect on collections remains uncertain.
