Is SRK Being Overpraised for Launching His Daughter?

SRK and Suhana Khan at KING film launch

A social media post praising Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan has gone viral. The post applauds him for using his influence to launch his daughter Suhana Khan in his upcoming film KING, which is scheduled for a Christmas release.

KING marks Suhana Khan’s first theatrical release after her Netflix debut in Zoya Akhtar’s 2023 musical comedy The Archies. The user described this move as rare in a film industry they called deeply misogynistic.

The post claimed that many Bollywood fathers do not actively launch their daughters. Examples mentioned include Dharmendra with Esha Deol, Anil Kapoor with Sonam Kapoor, and others like Boney Kapoor, Sunil Shetty, and Mahesh Bhatt prioritising sons.

According to the post, daughters are often left to manage their careers through external support, while sons benefit from direct family backing. Shah Rukh Khan was labelled a great father for breaking this pattern, which sparked strong online debate.

Several users criticised the post, arguing that most star kids already benefit from industry connections. Some even accused it of being a paid PR attempt to improve Suhana Khan’s image ahead of the KING release.

While no proof supports claims of paid promotion, critics felt Shah Rukh Khan was doing what most celebrity parents do. They argued that praise for such actions is unnecessary and misleading.

Many users agreed that Suhana Khan’s career will depend on her acting skills, not the scale of her launch. KING, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Suhana Khan, directed by Siddharth Anand, is set to release in theatres on Christmas 2026.
