The solo “Predator” film “Badlands,” which is slated to start production this year, will be directed by Dan Trachtenberg. For his 2022 prequel “Prey,” directed by Trachtenberg, who received an Emmy nomination, viewers follow Amber Midthunder’s character Naru, a talented warrior who defends her people from an enigmatic threat.
Although the movie has received recognition for its skill and good pacing, Naru’s journey’s emotional coherence gives the franchise a distinct touch. Production on the movie will start this year. According to the report, the movie had its biggest-ever launch, garnering the most time spent watching in the first three days of release out of all TV shows and movies.
It was distributed straight on the streaming platform. At this point, it’s unknown if “Badlands” will play in theatres or adhere to a similar release schedule. In addition, Trachtenberg is directing “Stranger Things” fifth and final season. His previous projects include “Black Mirror: Playtest,” “10 Cloverfield Lane,” and the pilot for “The Boys.”
In 1987, John McTiernan’s debut “Predator” picture, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Carl Weathers, and Jesse Ventura as commandos being pursued by an extraterrestrial in a jungle, was released. Three sequels followed, including “Predator 2” (1990) and “Predators” (2010).
