Taking fans and the general audience for granted is the worst possible thing that any superstar can do. But this appears to be the case with Tamil superstar, Ajith Kumar.
After delivering multiple disasters back to back, everyone, thought Ajith would make a strong comeback with his latest film Good Bad Ugly. Trailer for the film looked very promising as it was indicated that a proper commercial action film is on cards.
But the unanimous reviews and response after the release of the film today is that it is strictly mediocre stuff which is entirely catering to Ajith’s fans. It reportedly has zero connect for the general audience.
If we observe the recent filmography of Ajith Kumar, it has been preposterous to say the least. He has almost entirely shifted his focus onto car racing, which appears to be his passion.
Back in the day, Ajith Kumar was known for making peculiar films within commercial zones. The kind of makeovers, fiery performances, and the euphoria on his films is lacking these days.
There was once this fire in Ajith which can be overwhelmingly seen in films like Manjatha which made him a darling for the Tamil folk. He had the burning desire in him to do new age films and bring out the best in him.
But this fire appears to have extinguished now as his new filmmaking process has become mechanical. There is no longer the effort to make winning films either.
On the other hand, we have Thalapathy Vijay, who has been incredibly consistent for the last decade or so. The kind of wide reach films that he had been doing found a consolidated audience across wider markets.
There was this constant effort from Vijay to appeal to the wide receivers and he made sure all his films have such qualities.
Right from cinematography, to audio value to the overall presentation of the film, there hasn’t been a single utterly bad film from Vijay in the last decade.
As it appears, Vijay is the only superstar in Tamil cinema, who has this burning desire to deliver quality cinema day in day out. He is the only superstar who is operating with a proper cinema sense and striving to put up quality stuff.
