Hyderabad is going bonkers over Ranveer Singh‘s Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge as far as advance bookings are concerned. Though the city is usually dominated by Telugu films, Hindi movies also do well. But rarely has such extraordinary craze been seen for a Hindi film. According to trade circles, it has been decades since a Bollywood film created this kind of advance booking rush in Hyderabad.
What makes the situation even more interesting is the ticket pricing. In Telangana, the state government does not allow high-priced premium tickets for films unlike other states. That is also one of the reasons people are booking tickets for Dhurandhar 2 in huge numbers. The collections reflect real excitement among audiences, not just numbers boosted by expensive tickets.
The strong response is not limited to Hyderabad alone. Across South India, the film is showing impressive advance booking trends. So far, more than 50,000 tickets have already been sold for paid preview shows in national multiplex chains in the South. For a Hindi film, that is a big deal because these markets usually favor regional language films.
At the national level, the numbers are equally strong. By Sunday evening, the film had sold about 1.38 lakh tickets in major multiplex chains across India, with the PVR INOX network alone contributing roughly 1.13 lakh tickets.
The money coming in from preview bookings has already crossed Rs. 9.5 crore net, which means the film has broken the previous Bollywood record for paid preview advance collections held by Stree 2, which had around Rs. 8.75 crore in preview advance sales. What is remarkable is that Dhurandhar 2 achieved this in just two days of ticket sales, and there are still about ten days left before release.
Now the attention is shifting to all India premiere shows collection record currently held by Pawan Kalyan’s OG with around Rs. 26 crores. If bookings keep moving at the same pace, Dhurandhar 2 could get close to that number.
Advance bookings for the rest of the opening weekend are expected to begin soon, likely by Wednesday. Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge is shaping up to be one of the biggest openings the Hindi film industry has seen in recent times.
