Dhurandhar: The Revenge has released in theatres with strong buzz. Fans are rushing to watch the Ranveer Singh starrer, which has generated massive pre release hype.
Ahead of the release, Pakistani singer Hasan Jahangir made a key claim. He stated that he was paid $50,000 for the use of his song Hawa Hawa in the first film.
He shared this during an appearance on Nida Yasir’s ARY Digital Ramadan show Shan-e-Sahoor. He said the makers took permission and paid him for the track.
The song was used in the introduction of Sanjay Dutt’s character SP Aslam. It helped highlight the playful and bold nature of the character.
After the film’s release, the track gained popularity again. Social media users widely used it in reels, boosting its reach among younger audiences.
However, Hasan Jahangir’s statement has triggered strong reactions online. Many users questioned the use of a Pakistani song in a film with patriotic themes.
Some pointed out that after events like the Uri and Pahalgam attacks, there were calls to avoid Pakistani artists in Indian projects.
The issue has also brought up past controversies. Users mentioned how Diljit Dosanjh faced backlash for casting Hania Aamir in Sardaar Ji 3.
At the same time, some defended the makers. They said creative choices should not always be linked to political views or public sentiment.
Despite the controversy, Dhurandhar: The Revenge has opened to strong audience interest. Early reviews are mixed, but trade expects a solid box office run.
