The Enforcement Directorate has provisionally attached assets worth Rs 1.26 crore belonging to actress Neha Sharma. The action is part of a money laundering probe linked to illegal betting apps. The case has drawn attention due to her film background and past endorsements.
The agency claims Neha Sharma was linked to promoting the offshore betting platform 1xBet. These promotions allegedly took place through surrogate advertisements. Investigators believe such campaigns helped fuel organised financial crimes.
The ED has also seized assets worth over Rs 8 crore from other public figures. Those named include Yuvraj Singh, Robin Uthappa, Sonu Sood, Urvashi Rautela, Mimi Chakraborty, and Ankush Hazra. The wider crackdown targets celebrity-linked financial trails.
According to officials, assets worth around Rs 7.93 crore have been seized under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. The investigations focus on payments received for alleged promotions. Authorities say the transactions show suspicious financial patterns.
Neha Sharma made her acting debut with Ram Charan in Chirutha. She later appeared in Bollywood films such as Crook and Tum Bin 2. She has not issued any public statement on the allegations so far.
Reports have also highlighted her family background. Her father Ajeet Sharma is a Congress party leader. He recently contested the 2025 Bihar assembly elections from Bhagalpur and lost to BJP candidate Rohit Pandey by over 13,000 votes.
The case has triggered debate on social media. Several users have questioned the timing of the ED action. Opposition parties have earlier accused the agency of selectively targeting those linked to non-ruling alliances.
Similar questions were raised in past cases involving other celebrities. Sonu Sood was also cited due to his political associations. These comparisons have added to public scepticism around enforcement decisions.
The ED maintains that all investigations are evidence-based. Officials deny political bias and stress financial irregularities as the sole reason. Public opinion, however, remains sharply divided.
The case against Neha Sharma is still ongoing. It has also sparked wider conversations around celebrity endorsements. Many view it as a warning against promoting illegal betting platforms.
