The much-awaited Mallepoola Pallaki song from Ravi Teja’s Irumudi has finally been released, but the response has been extremely mixed.
The song was unveiled at the film’s grand pre-release event. It tries to combine devotion, energetic beats and Ravi Teja’s mass appeal. Mallepoola Pallaki is already a popular devotional folk song among Ayyappa devotees for years. The original was popularized by folk singer Dappu Srinu.
For Irumudi, music director GV Prakash Kumar has recreated the song with a grand orchestral arrangement. Dappu Srinu has also returned to sing the new version.
However, many fans feel that the recreated version does not have the same energy as the popular DJ versions played at Ayyappa events. Some listeners also feel that Dappu Srinu’s voice has changed over the years, making it difficult to recreate the impact of the original.
This has created a strange situation. Even with the original singer returning, the new version has not completely satisfied listeners who are familiar with the high-energy versions of the song. Some are even asking the makers to bring back the original popular version without realizing that Dappu Srinu himself has sung the new track.
But the theatrical version could change things.
During the song release event, GV Prakash Kumar promised that a special DJ version of Mallepoola Pallaki will be played in theatres. If that version delivers the devotional vibe fans are expecting, the song could have a much bigger impact on the audience.
So, the released version may have received a mixed response, but the real test will come in theatres. If the theatrical version gets fans dancing and cheering, Mallepoola Pallaki could still become one of Irumudi’s biggest crowd-pullers.
