Mahesh Babu’s latest film, ‘Guntur Kaaram’, had mixed reviews but found some success on Netflix. In an interview with India Today, Mahesh Babu discussed that he was happy that the film found a bit of acceptance on OTT.
When asked to pinpoint the projects that have significantly influenced his career trajectory, Mahesh Babu singled out “Murari,” “Pokiri,” and “Srimanthudu.” He elaborated, “These films have been pivotal in shaping my journey as they allowed me to delve into diverse storytelling dimensions and connect with my audience on a profound level.”
It is true that Srimanthudu in 2015 was the last film of Mahesh Babu that found universal acceptance among the audience and critics. Since then, he’s been hyping up each new movie as his best at promotional events. But now, it seems like Mahesh himself deep down knows that “Srimanthudu” was his last good film that justified his talent and stardom.
All the films that he has done in the last 10 years after Srimanthudu have failed to live up to the audience and also his own expectations.
He is kind of accepting that his script choices post-Srimanthudu have not been up to the mark. Maybe the scripts were poor in the first place or the films didn’t turn out to be the way they were narrated to him. He kind of accepted that the scripts failed him as an actor and star.
Looking ahead, Mahesh Babu is excited about his next movie with Rajamouli. He mentioned in the interview that the preparations for the movie are going well, and he’s looking forward to starting filming soon.
