
The association between Vamshi Paidipally and Aamir Khan is a controversy. Directors from South like Rajamouli and Vanga, who are visionaries of the South, are worlds apart from Paidipally’s orthodox approach. Aamir seems to be relying on the South for a comeback.
Dangal was Aamir’s last blockbuster in 2016. Among his latest flops were Laal Singh Chaddha and many more. Meanwhile, the South film, led by Rajamouli and Vanga, is growing, and Bollywood actors increasingly collaborate with South filmmakers.

Though they do not carry an originality factor, Vamshi Paidipally’s films like Maharshi and Varisu are safe bets from a business perspective. Going by this, his formulaic approach may not give Aamir the game-changing success he needs at this stage.
Aamir is banking on the south Indian market, but it cannot happen that all of these South Indian film makers are game changers. It does not help if he gets a second-rate director like Paidipally unless material is exceptional.

Aamir needs to tread with caution over the choice of films. While South cinema holds hope, Paidipally’s conservative approach cannot help achieve a major comeback. At this point in time, it is well-thought decisions.
