Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 has been hitting headlines ever since the film was sent to the review committee of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to be scrutinized carefully.
The move to review the film with utmost care came following the Adipurush fiasco, which received massive backlash for its colloquial dialogues and poor representation of Hindu Gods.
Directed by Amrit Rai, the film, which is scheduled to release on August 11, has been reportedly granted an A (adults only) certificate. The official announcement is awaited.
This is perhaps the first time that a film’s teaser has been granted a U certificate, the trailer has been given a U/A certificate, and now the film is given an A certificate. One film and three different censor certificates. Really, Oh My God!
Despite the A certificate, the makers have also suggested 27 cuts, which is very rare. Akshay Kumar, who was playing Lord Shiva, will now be turned into a messenger of Shiva.
There are many cuts and beeps that involve words like Shiv Ling, Yoni, Paap, and other words that are part of Hinduism. This might also be the first film to get an adults-only certificate featuring a revered Hindu god in the lead role.
