One interesting battle quietly happening around Ram Charan’s Peddi is not just about content or box office numbers, but visibility. In today’s pan-India market, promotions have become almost as important as the film itself.
The makers recently confirmed that Peddi’s theatrical trailer will release on May 18 with a launch event in Mumbai. Director Buchi Babu Sana has also planned a massive musical event in Bhopal to launch a special song from the film. According to him, the team chose Bhopal specifically to connect with audiences from the Hindi heartland.
For Peddi, strong Hindi collections are extremely important for overall box office recovery.
This is where comparisons with Jr. NTR’s Devara have become unavoidable. After S. S. Rajamouli’s RRR, both Ram Charan and NTR entered a phase where the challenge was proving they could independently pull pan-India audiences outside Rajamouli’s brand.
NTR’s team pushed Devara aggressively across markets through interviews, events, and constant nationwide promotions. That visibility helped the film secure a decent Hindi opening of Rs. 7 crores net and eventually cross Rs. 400 crores worldwide despite mixed reactions.
In comparison, Peddi’s promotions still appear surprisingly low for a project of this scale, despite strong industry buzz around the film’s emotional content, rural backdrop, sports drama, and Ram Charan’s transformed screen presence. Some insiders even believe the film has stronger emotional depth than several recent pan-India entertainers. Even then, the makers have taken things lightly in terms of promotions until now.
Strong content alone no longer guarantees huge openings. Today, even average films can generate massive initial collections through aggressive marketing, while good films sometimes struggle if awareness remains limited beyond core fan bases.
Since Peddi is not a sequel or franchise film like Pushpa 2 or Baahubali, building fresh audience excitement becomes even more important. If the makers increase visibility aggressively in the coming weeks, Peddi has the potential to emerge as one of the biggest pan-India films of the year from the Telugu film industry.
