Peddi PVR Controversy: Was the Customer Treated Unfairly?

PVR Hyderabad entry denial sparks controversy

A complaint against a PVR multiplex in Hyderabad is now going viral on social media after a moviegoer alleged that he was denied entry despite holding a valid ticket and later proving that he had not consumed alcohol.

The incident took place on the night of June 16 when he arrived at the theatre to watch Ram Charan’s Peddi. Theatre staff reportedly stopped him at the entrance, claiming that he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

The moviegoer denied the allegation and insisted that he had not consumed any alcohol. As the argument escalated, mall security personnel reportedly stepped in and conducted a breathalyzer test.

According to the moviegoer, the breathalyzer reading came back at 0%, indicating that he was completely sober. However, despite the result, he claims he was already humiliated in front of other visitors and ultimately missed the movie experience.

He further alleged that when he approached BookMyShow customer support seeking help, his complaint was not handled properly, and the call was disconnected without any satisfactory resolution.

Naturally, the incident has triggered strong reactions online.

Many social media users are asking a simple question: if the breath analyzer indeed showed 0% alcohol, why was the individual initially stopped and subjected to public embarrassment?

Others argue that multiplexes certainly have the right to deny entry to heavily intoxicated customers if they are likely to disturb other moviegoers. However, they also point out that such decisions should be based on proper verification rather than mere suspicion.

Some users have even suggested that the individual could legally pursue the matter as a case of “deficiency of service” if he was wrongly denied entry despite possessing a valid ticket.

As of now, neither PVR nor BookMyShow has issued an official statement responding to the allegations. Until both sides present their version, the full picture remains unclear.
