Ravi Teja is going through one of the toughest phases of his career. Barring one or two hits, most of his recent films have flopped miserably at the box office. Critically as well, many of them have been thrashed brutally as they were really terrible films. The bigger problem now is trust. Audiences are no longer showing up, even when a film gets decent word of mouth. That credibility has taken a serious hit.
But there are signs of a reset.
His upcoming film Irumudi is generating some positive vibes. More importantly, it feels like a conscious and genuine attempt. Instead of another routine mass entertainer, Ravi Teja seems to be keen on delivering something different with director Shiva Nirvana.
At the same time, there are reports of a new collaboration with director Hasith Goli, backed by Dil Raju. That combination adds weight and signals intent.
Hasith Goli, who directed Raja Raja Chora and Swag, both starring Sree Vishnu, may have mixed box office results, but his approach stands out. Raja Raja Chora worked well at the box office, while Swag did not, but both films reflected a distinct, new-age sensibility.
That is the key shift here.
Ravi Teja teaming up with younger directors who bring fresh ideas is a clear move away from his usual formula. Instead of repeating the same commercial template, he seems to be looking for filmmakers who can present him differently.
At least, the effort is visible.
The involvement of Dil Raju also adds a layer of confidence, especially when it comes to content-driven projects. Now it comes down to execution.
Ravi Teja is clearly trying to rebuild. Whether these choices can actually win back the audience is the real test.
