
Director Shankar has finally broken his silence on the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) action against him regarding the copyright case over Enthiran.
The ED recently seized property worth ₹10.11 crore under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), citing alleged plagiarism.

In his official statement, Shankar expressed deep disappointment, calling the ED’s move baseless.
He stated that there was already legal clarity that no copyright violation had occurred. He also mentioned that he hadn’t received any official communication from the ED and only learned about the property attachment through media reports.

Calling it a “misuse of legal process,” he urged authorities to review their decision. If they fail to do so, he confirmed that he will appeal against the attachment order.
For those unaware, the plagiarism case was filed in 2011 by writer Aurur Tamilnadan, who claimed that Enthiran bore striking similarities to his story Jiguba.

Following an investigation, authorities reportedly found notable resemblances in the characters, themes, and story progression. While Shankar has consistently denied these allegations, the latest action by the ED has once again put the case in the spotlight.
