When the trade pundits in Tollywood are discussing on cost cutting budget planning and how to make a film with assurance of being cost effective, our big film makers are making plans to shoot in exotic locales. Of course, every artist and technician wants his canvas to be presented in the most scenic way.

Why are our film makers undeterred about the heavy costs that would incur on the producer if major portions of their films are shot in foreign locales? The answer lies in the fact that the government of those foreign countries like US and UK are offering heavy subsidies to films shot in their region to promote tourism of their country.
Tollywood being the third biggest film industry only after Hollywood and Bollywood, it’s common sense that developed countries see our film industry as vast media to promote themselves. The latest example is Mahesh Babu’s ‘1-Nenokkadine’, which was shot extensively in London and is said to have earned 50% subsidy out of Rs.28 crores spent.
Soon big films like Akhil’s debut movie and NTR-Sukumar movie are going to bank heavily on the subsidy idea. It’s not just US & UK, but other countries like Thailand, Bangkok and some South African countries are luring our Tollywood makers. Tollywood is also trying to make the most out of this and delegations are dialogue with the governments to earn maximum possible subsidy. At the end of the day, audiences would get to see scenic beauty from around the world.
