The much-awaited teaser of War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, has left fans with extremely mixed emotions—and not in a good way.
Just moments after the teaser dropped, social media was flooded with criticism. Many netizens trolled YRF for what they called “plastic-looking” CGI and an excessive use of green screen.
“YRF’s Spy Universe is their crown jewel, yet in 2025, their VFX still screams cheap plastic backgrounds?” wrote one user on social media. Others were more blunt, comparing the visuals to “90MM rod-level output” and claiming the teaser looked like it was “shot entirely on green screen.”
For a banner as big as YRF—armed with decades of legacy and massive budgets—this kind of backlash comes as a shock.
Fans and critics alike are noticing a troubling pattern. The VFX issues seen in Tiger 3 and even Pathaan are now resurfacing in War 2.
“If War (2019) looked better than War 2 in 2025, that’s a serious problem,” a fan commented.
What’s adding to the frustration is that Yash Raj Films handles its VFX in-house through its own studio, YFX. But fans are now openly urging the studio to bring in Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment (RCE), widely regarded as India’s gold standard in visual effects.
“RCE delivered top-notch visuals in Jawan, Ra.One, Fan, Animal, and even Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. If anyone can fix this, it’s them,” a user wrote.
With less than three months left before War 2 hits theatres, a full VFX overhaul may not be practical. However, many believe that outsourcing key sequences to RCE could still improve 30–40% of the film—a significant upgrade if handled properly.
This backlash should serve as a wake-up call—not just for YRF, but for the entire Bollywood industry.
If Indian cinema wants to compete on a global stage with big-budget spectacles, it can’t afford to compromise on visual quality. Execution matters, and right now, that’s the weakest link in an otherwise promising franchise.
